Yorkshire’s winter wonderland returns this week
Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland is set to return to McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in York this week.
The award-winning festive event includes an outdoor ice skating rink, a theme park and Santa’s grotto.
It will be open from Friday (November 17) and runs until Sunday, January 7, 2024.
Paul Tyler, Center Manager at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet York, said:
“Christmas at York Designer Outlet wouldn’t be the same without Winter Wonderland in Yorkshire.
“For many families, this event has become a staple on their festive calendar with fun outdoor activities that all ages can enjoy, as well as the opportunity to tick their Christmas shopping list!”
Yorkshire’s winter wonderland has been a regular Christmas attraction at York Designer Outlet since 2010, and this year will see its 18th season in York.
The event debuted as The Ice Factor on the Eye of York in 2005.
The Ice Factor – the largest outdoor ice rink in the north of England at 975 square metres – will once again have a sparkling 30ft Christmas tree as its centrepiece.
It will be surrounded by illuminated trees, log cabins, a rink-side café and a viewing platform.

This year, the amusement park will be bigger and better than ever according to organizer Georgie Wood, with new state-of-the-art rides including Twist and Waltzer stunts augmenting perennial family favourites, vintage Dodgems dating back to 1937.
Georgie, an event organizer at Winter Wonderland in Yorkshire, said:
“As always, we are delighted to be back at York Designer Outlet, with some exciting additions to Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland this year.
“The new-look amusement park will offer some modern rides for thrill-seekers as well as plenty of rides for children, and our new café terrace next to the rink will create an exciting outdoor place to watch skaters enjoying hot chocolate and sausages.
“We will also have some fun new decorations and themes around the event, making it the perfect place for a festive selfie!”
Also new to Yorkshire’s Winter Wonderland this year is a terrace overlooking the ice rink, exclusively for patrons of The Chalet café.
Inside the cozy Alpine-style après-ski café, delicious winter-warming food and drinks as well as desserts will be available for purchase, and private parties can also be arranged.
