Bobby Berk has put together a lot of table covers over the years, and with practice comes perfection. “With the holidays right around the corner, I wanted to share some of my tips for setting the perfect table for a gathering with friends and family,” says Bobby.
The table view in question shows everything we would expect from a traditional dinner setting: exquisite flatware, statement candle sticks, and delicate glassware. However, the designer also turns to design marketplace Minted for some personal touches to his space.
“You may be familiar with Minted for their artwork, but let me tell you, Design Market has some great products for any space in your home, including everything you used on your countertop,” he says.
“The best part is that it’s all sourced from independent artists and makers from around the world, and I’m excited to partner with them this holiday season.”
How to Set the Perfect Table Scene – The Bobby Berk Way
Choosing a fabric tablecloth as a base improves the acoustics of our dining room and elevates the Thanksgiving table from everyday life. The black and white tablecloth, similar to the one Bobby used, is a timeless starting point that pairs well with every other color we might incorporate into our tablescape. Next comes the dinnerware.
“I’ve always loved mixing and matching my dinnerware to give it a more organized and collected look,” says Bobby.
“I added gold flatware and gold-rimmed wine glasses, (and) I always like to add an item that can be a conversation starter, so I bought these fun napkins, a homemade vase like this one from Minted, and some candlelight to set the mood.”

Both the candles and glasses add the perfect amount of color to the otherwise neutral space and — as Bobby says — create a “beautiful, thoughtful tablescape” that will last throughout the holiday season and into the new year.
We’re capturing the exact picks from Bobby’s table via Minted below.
Black and white will never go out of style, but this plaid style is especially timeless. We love how this color will work with all color schemes, and how it will suit all types of dinner parties.
These curved linen coasters bring art to the table, creating a carefully curated aesthetic that is as functional as it is beautiful to look at. We love the striped pattern and color that’s perfect for Christmas.
With their elegant stem, rich colors and 24-karat gold rim, these wine glasses add a sense of exclusivity and luxury to our table space. The shape is also very versatile and will work with a number of festive themes.
As Bobby suggests, the perfect base, dinnerware and floral accent piece, it’s hard to go wrong, but these sustainable pieces are sure to be a hit at every point of the calendar.
