Back in the summer of 2020, near the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Simon Cowell sold his longtime Beverly Hills residence for exactly $25 million. Three years later, the nearly one-acre property was making real estate waves again, as it moved in another off-market deal for a whopping $33.6 million — one of the most expensive deals ever closed south of Sunset Boulevard, in what is called Beverly Hills. Apartments neighborhood. The latest deal was first reported by The Real Deal.
Cowell acquired this luxurious property, which has a wonderful location in the best building on a prestigious street, in 2004 for just $8 million. The all-in-one mogul then spent five years — no doubt several million dollars — transforming the place into a high-tech fortress filled with custom amenities, including a wellness center and a million-dollar security system.
Coyle sold the property in 2020 by Alonabadi, a Beverly Hills native and managing partner at Waterfall Bridge Capital, a commercial and residential real estate investment firm. Abadi, 53, sold the property at a huge profit to Sialendra Bakri, a businessman and member of one of Indonesia’s richest families. Earlier this year, Adinda Bakre, the 43-year-old’s younger sister, paid $21 million for a contemporary mansion elsewhere in Beverly Hills Flats.
Because Cowell’s estate has never been publicly put on the market, some of its various interior fittings remain a mystery. But the “America’s Got Talent” judges have commissioned the property to be photographed and posted several times over the years, and this fusion of traditional and contemporary housing features a black-and-white interior accented by copious amounts of marble and glass. There are no less than five bedrooms and eight bathrooms in about 10,000 square feet of living space.
Some of the property’s many amenities include a solarium, movie theater, lap pool, pool cabana with retractable roof, in-house tanning salon, state-of-the-art gym, two kitchens, and a wellness suite. With spa and massage facilities, as well as a steam room. For hired help, there are maid and butler quarters, and a security detail can monitor the building with a world-class security system, which includes a retinal scan license.
Outside, the property includes a sparkling pool, a separate pool house/guesthouse of sorts, lush lawns, mature palm trees and a street-facing façade shaded by magnificent native sycamore trees. The gated courtyard has parking space for at least six luxury vehicles.
