Several tenants of Tiffany Retro Apartments have reported problems with the air conditioner due to triple digit heat
Oklahoma City (CFR) — Residents of a Metro apartment complex say they are forced to shake off a sweat after their air conditioner stops working.
Kuffour has heard of several residents dealing with a broken air-conditioning unit in Tiffany’s Retro apartments along Northwest Highway.
One woman told Kafour that she had been without air conditioning all weekend. While the temperature was rising to triple digits outside, it was melting from the heat inside.
I placed a work order on Friday, but no one came to fix it until Monday. Since then, she said her air conditioner has been going in and out. She said she had had enough.
“I told her I couldn’t continue to live like this, and I needed to be let out of my lease. So, I’m moving out in a couple of weeks,” said Lemonte Hennessy, a resident of Tiffany Retro Apartments.
Leemontye Hennesy said her AC unit has been running for the past two months.
Since moving into Tiffany Retro Apartments in April, she said the air has not worked in her bedroom.
“Currently, the AC doesn’t work in my bedroom, so I sit a lot in the living room because it’s really cool in there,” Hennesy said.
Hennesy adds that the AC issues are the reason she left before her lease expired.
“I pay a lot of rent…and I know a lot of people, and it’s not just me who has an AC problem,” Hennessy said.
Nick Benton said he lives at 9y floor.
“The longest I waited was about two days, but that was when the whole building had air conditioning problems,” Benton said.
Benton said he’s had minor issues here and there with his AC unit, but the apartment complex always seems to work it out.
“They were usually very short… usually (they are fixed) in a day or two at most,” Benton said.
There may be signs of hope.
Two repair trucks were parked outside the compound on Tuesday morning.
When I asked Kafour, one of the drivers, what was going on, we were told that they were working on air conditioning in the buildings.
“I think they need to evacuate everyone and rebuild the whole building because there are so many problems going on with the building that could be fixed if they just rebuilt,” Hennessy said.
Kfour contacted the Tiffany apartment complex and spoke with a manager on the phone.
I told Kafour that they had sent our application to the company’s office.
“If they don’t get in touch, I’m sorry but it’s their decision and I’m sorry,” said the manager of Tiffany Apartments over the phone.
So, we asked for corporate office information because we hadn’t heard from them.
“I’m not at all in giving that to you at this point, I apologise,” said the manager of Tiffany Apartments over the phone.
In the end, they gave us the company’s phone number.
Someone from the corporate office told us that they do everything they can to answer every call with air conditioning issues.
She went on to say, “Some vendors are having difficulty getting spare parts. We are not ignoring them. We are working as hard as we can in these hot temperatures.”
