SCVNews.com | November 18: Family Homes finally hosts its Tiny Open House fundraiser

Finally, Family Homes will host an open house to showcase a tiny home built entirely by foster youth and community volunteers on November 18.

The community is invited to attend this special event and tour the tiny house from 10am to 1pm at the construction site behind the Restoration Church, 23670 Wylie Canyon Road in Santa Clarita. Guests can enjoy complimentary brunch while bidding on a range of auction items; There will also be a 50/50 fee.

Finally, Family Houses connect vulnerable youth (youth aging out of foster care) to a supportive, trauma-informed community, where they can find stability and dignity. The Tiny House Program is a first-of-its-kind initiative that creates beautiful housing while teaching job skills, creating ownership, and a sense of agency for those struggling with housing insecurity. With this solid foundation, struggling youth can break the cycle of poverty and realize their full potential.

said Christina Dronen, Executive Director of Finally Family Homes. “It also serves as a celebration of all the hard work and dedication our foster youth and community volunteers have put in over the past six months. I look forward to the community coming out and celebrating with us.”

Other programs offered by Last Family Homes include Family Sponsorship, Home Hosting, Life Launch, and Alumni Support. Family Care is our program to care like family: celebrating holidays, birthdays and graduations, as well as providing basic needs. Host Homes is a proven youth homelessness intervention, where local families are recruited, screened, and trained to provide open room and compassionate care to former foster youth.

Life Launch is a training program to educate, communicate and equip older youth with life skills, in partnership with the Evidence-Based Micro-Learning programme. Alumni Support provides an open door for program alumni to stay in touch and a place to call during difficult times.

“Permanence and sustainability are important to us,” Dronen said.

Finally, Family Homes is still looking for sponsors, auction items and volunteers for this event.
