As you step onto the rink, the iconic Battersea Power Station looms in the background, creating a stunning backdrop to your skating adventure – especially at night.
The rink and surrounding area are beautifully lit, exuding a festive atmosphere that instantly puts you in the holiday spirit.
Upon entering the greenhouse-like building to collect sleds, I noticed significant improvements from previous years.
The space was more organized, with ample seating and more space for staff to distribute skates efficiently.
Putting on the skates was easy, thanks to the easily controlled clip design, and the fact that they all looked brand new added a touch of sophistication.
I’ve rented skis before and it was an absolute battle to get them, so thank goodness these things were simpler.
It was a fun process, enhancing the overall experience of getting ready for a spin on the ice.
The cheerful Christmas atmosphere extends to the rink itself, where friendly instructors patiently assist beginners allowing people of all skill levels to enjoy the rink, creating a joyful and inclusive atmosphere.
After a satisfying skate, The Glasshouse, a bar located at the lower end of the rink, provides the perfect space for family and friends to relax and watch the skaters.
I felt like the bar staff were still processing demand and there was a bit of a wait at the bar during peak hours, but there were plenty of cocktail options to enjoy.
The outdoor lounge resembles a unique glass igloo, providing a cozy place to enjoy a drink or snack while watching the skiers.
There is plenty of outdoor seating in small wooden cabins with heaters above to protect you from the cold.
Sponsored by Jo Malone, who had a funky gingerbread shop on site, the event also featured a candy stand and a nearby carousel, providing even more delights to enjoy between skating sessions.
Gliding at Battersea Power Station is a must-visit for those looking for a festive and magical London ice skating experience.
It provides a delightful escape into a winter wonderland, leaving you with treasured memories and a warm holiday glow.
Adult tickets start from £12.50 and children can attend from £8.50.
The rink will remain open for the holiday season until January 7, 2024.
