Danilo Cavalcanti broke into a home Monday night and stole a .22-caliber rifle. He was shot “several times” by the homeowner and is “considered armed and extremely dangerous,” according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Escaped prisoner Danilo Cavalcanti remains at large after breaking into a home and stealing a gun, forcing schools to close and residents to stay home.
A homeowner shot the killer seven times when he broke into his home and stole a .22-caliber rifle Monday night, according to police, who also found footprints in the clay that “matched” the prints of shoes Cavalcanti wore in prison. . No blood was found at the scene. “We have no reason to believe he was injured as a result of this shooting,” Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivins said. “I think he’s just trying to survive and avoid being captured now,” Bivens added.
On Tuesday morning, the Owen J. Roberts School District closed all seven schools and offices for the day with a large police presence remaining in the Town of East Nantmile. “He is now armed with a .22 caliber rifle, a scope and a flashlight mounted on it,” Bivins said during a news conference.
Pennsylvania State Police said: “He is armed. Area residents are asked to lock all doors and windows, secure vehicles and remain indoors. Do not approach. Call 911 if you see him.” The killer escaped from the Chester County Jail on August 31 by climbing a set of prison walls, then jumping onto the roof after forcing his way through barbed wire. He then sprinted across the top of the facility before jumping down and escaping.
