Ivana Trump’s lavish home has had its price cut by $4 million after it failed to sell
- Ivana Trump died last July after falling in her luxurious home in New York City.
- The home has failed to sell since it was listed for $26.5 million in November.
- The asking price was reduced by $4 million last week, and is now $22.5 million.
More than a year after her death, Ivana Trump’s lavish New York City home is still struggling to sell.
An Upper East Side property listing showed the asking price was reduced on September 7 by $4 million to $22.5 million. When the 8,725-square-foot townhouse was first listed in November 2022, it sold for $26.5 million.
Ivana Trump lived in the five-story property until her death in July 2022 at the age of 73. Trump, the first wife of former President Donald Trump, died after accidentally falling down the stairs.
Ivana Trump bought the property in 1992 for nearly $2.5 million after her messy divorce from Donald Trump, for which she received a $25 million settlement. She remodeled the home and outfitted it with luxury that befits the larger Trump brand.
Like her ex-husband, Ivana Trump was fond of gold and filled the house with it, including a luxurious gold fabric ceiling, along with gold trim, curtains and chandeliers.
The five-bedroom house also features animal prints, as the walls, floor and furniture of one room are covered in leopard prints, in addition to a tiger painting hanging on the wall.
One of the home’s five bathrooms is decorated almost entirely in pink, including the pink marble countertops, tiles, ceiling, and tub.
There’s also an Ivana Trump-style mini-doll in the house, complete with blonde hair and fur accessories.
The New York Times reported that months after listing the house, people began to notice that it had not sold but it was not clear why. However, the price did not budge until the latest cut, after nearly 10 months on the market.
It is unclear why the home did not sell. The Wall Street Journal reported that proceeds from the sale will go to the three children Ivana Trump shares with Donald Trump: Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Ivanka Trump.
If you want to make it your own, the property listing estimates the monthly mortgage payment to be around $127,217 after a $4.5 million down payment.
