Five Newly Listed Properties on the Chicago Market – Chicago Magazine

A few weeks ago, Dennis Rudkin Crane A report on X was shared from ResiClub Which analyzes the housing market in the United States. Chicago saw the largest decline in the inventory of homes for sale among major U.S. cities, down 63% from four years ago. As someone who endlessly browses the real estate market, I completely agree with this assessment. There is not a lot of housing available right now, making it difficult to find exciting properties for sale. But this does not mean that the well has dried up. So what’s there? I’ve found five newly listed homes in Chicago currently on the market that I think you’ll love (and a couple of them are very affordable, too).

A beautiful Victorian home located on a duplex lot in Logan Square has been put on the market for the first time in nearly 30 years. Beyond the wraparound front porch, the home is filled with vintage details like ornate wood paneling, glass pocket doors, bedroom niches, and a grand staircase. I love the endless possibilities of the large attic with its windows and wide plank pine floors. This 2,566-square-foot single-family residence has just four bedrooms and one bathroom, but there’s a lot of potential here. Plus, it’s close to Milwaukee Avenue and public transportation.

On a tree-lined street between Lawrence and Montrose in Sheridan Park, a classic six-apartment building with a rare unit is available for sale. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,765-square-foot condo was recently listed for $475,000, a 25% increase in price since it was last sold six years ago. The low monthly HOA fee of $245 covers water, lawn care, storage and an exercise room in the basement. The home comes with a private deck out back large enough for a built-in corner seat, a retractable sun awning, outdoor furniture, and a full-size grill.

The Chateau Le Mans Condominium has an attractive exterior. But it’s also interesting because of who designed and built it: Emma Kennett, a pioneering woman who owned a construction company, was responsible for more than 80 buildings in the Rogers Park/West Ridge area — including this one dating back to 1934. Since it was sold, three Years ago, this three-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,800-square-foot unit achieved a 44% increase in price with a current asking of just under $325,000. I love all the charming antique features, especially this barrel vaulted entryway.

This brick Georgian on the border between the Beverly and Morgan Park neighborhoods is listed for just under $390,000. The three-bedroom, two-bathroom home is located on Longwood Drive, one of the area’s most picturesque streets known for its natural contours and hilly terrain. The interior has been renovated, although the bathrooms look very original. But the really great thing about this property is the large backyard where I see a lot of potential for any buyer with a green thumb.

Located on the edge of the Irving Park neighborhood, is a Dutch single-family residence that just listed for $525,000. Not too bad for the price for an older home with recent updates in a desirable location. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom, 2,500-square-foot residence comes with a welcoming front porch, a full basement for additional storage, a back deck, and four full parking spaces. While a bedroom off the kitchen may seem a bit odd, a potential buyer could turn it into an office or family room.
