Renewal

It’s hard to look at this Calgary castle and see it as anything else, but believe it or not, this house was once a modest bungalow. Construction of the property first began in 1946 when the house was built as a single storey. Then in 1982, new construction began to transform it into the castle it is today, with its watchtower.

In 2018, the castle became home to a group gallery, where artists and creatives can rent one of the seven studio spaces inside. The exhibition also included drawing sessions with live music, spoken poetry performances and an art installation. In 2022, the house was purchased by the current owners, who turned the castle into a successful Airbnb.

What do you like

Channel your inner beauty in the multi-storey library, sing to the birds in the spacious courtyards or host friends in the ballroom/game room. Whatever your heart desires, there is room for it in this castle.

The upper level features the master bedroom suite equipped with ample closet space, a luxurious five-piece ensuite bathroom, and a sunlit tower sitting room. On the main floor there are two additional bedrooms and a large dining room designed for royal dinners before returning to the living room and gas fireplace. The kitchen is well-equipped to handle any lavish meal prep, including a clever storage cupboard that hangs underneath.

When it’s time to entertain guests, head downstairs. The lower level features a wooden dance floor, pool table and bar, not to mention a recreation room with a fireplace, workshop and cozy seating area.

With red accents, golden-hued wood and the timeless feel of the home, it’s a castle that blends modern comforts with medieval appeal. As a final bonus, all decor and furniture are included in the sale.

What to consider

Spacious bedrooms and ample space make the home ideal for growing families or for entertaining on a large scale with friends and family. It is also located close to shopping, dining and retail options, as well as plenty of walking trails.
