Dover-Foxcroft home business is expanding into Aroostook County

HOULTON, Maine — Layoffs at Katahdin Cedar Log Homes and increased consumer interest in building log homes in Aroostook County have prompted Moosehead Cedar Log Homes to expand into Houlton, according to the president of the Dover-Foxcroft company.

When Pleasant River Lumber, based in Dover-Foxcroft, purchased Moosehead Cedar Log Homes two years ago from longtime owners Randy and Lucy Comber, it gave the company a dose of excitement and resources that put the company on the path to start growing, Moosehead President Barry Ivey said.

The new Houlton office includes a customer service director to work with customers, dealers, dealer support staff and design staff, Ivey said. He said the company may build a model home in Houlton in the future.
