For $10.3 million (no mortgage required), the Hewitts acquired a resort-style coastal estate with a six-bedroom residence billed on Bonnie’s Three Birds Renovations website as Bonnie’s Dream Home.

The residence includes spacious open-plan living areas, a separate office, a guest cottage, a cabana, a swimming pool, a storage barn and of course a tennis court.

The Hewitts were for years the king and queen of Australian gossip magazines, culminating in 2005 when for their wedding in Sydney they had to hire about 50 security guards to keep out photographers and the public, and the wedding was accompanied by hovering planes. Helicopters and boat chases follow through the harbour.

Two years ago, they sold their Melbourne home, pocketing $15.2 million from bankrupt businessman Dan Baxter, and bought a Gold Coast home in Burleigh Waters for $4.3 million.

Their new digs smashed the Glenhaven suburb’s record by $1.5 million, but surpassed locally a high of $14 million set in June in Middle Doral by a house bought by Gavin Grace, director of Ballarat-based laboratory equipment supplier Westlab.
