In legal court documents obtained by The Blast, the “7 Rings” singer decided to file a lawsuit first with her attorney Laura water Citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Grande first filed a lawsuit in Stanley Musk’s court in Los Angeles before Gomez filed his response shortly after.
Vasser is a well-known name in the divorce attorney industry in Holly. She is currently dealing with Kevin Costner’s controversial divorce from his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner. She also dealt with Kim Kardashian’s divorce from Kanye West.
As noted above, the docs are free of child support or custody issues, since she has not welcomed any children. The breakup date was listed as February 20, 2023, roughly three months before speculation surfaced that the lovebirds were going their separate ways. This means that Grande and Gomez were able to keep their breakup under cover for a while.
Before their union, both Grande and Gomez were successful in their own right, having a lot of wealth and assets to their names. Therefore, it is not surprising that the couple has a strict prenuptial agreement. Before their wedding in May 2021, the “Sam & Cat” alum was worth around $150 million and was one of the highest-paid entertainers in the world.
As of 2023, the two-time Grammy winner’s net worth has risen to $240 million. As for her ex-husband, who works in luxury real estate, his net worth is estimated at about $20 million.
While both parties are millionaires, Grande clearly has a lot to lose if their marriage doesn’t protect the nearly $100 million she earned during their marriage. Also, since the REM Beauty founder has more money, it is not unlikely that she may have to pay some cash to her ex-husband despite their strict prenuptial agreement.
It’s also possible that trying to iron out the details of an amicable split is the reason why filing for divorce is taking nearly eight months! Fans may recall that following their engagement in December 2020 — just months after they officially turned Instagram — the former lovebirds exchanged vows.
The couple walked down the aisle at a very private ceremony held at the singer’s Montecito home. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made the upscale area their home after stepping down from the British royal family.
They had about 20 guests at the Tudor-style home, which the “Positions” singer purchased for $6.8 million in 2020 from Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. However, in September 2022, she sold the property for $9.1 million. This may have been the beginning of her marital problems with Gomez.
Before marrying the successful real estate mogul, Grande began building her real estate portfolio. In 2018, she spent $16 million on a luxury apartment in Chelsea, New York City. The 4,000-square-foot property includes five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms with impressive features like an IMAX theater, sauna, private spa, and pool.

During the 2020 pandemic, she purchased a new 10,000-square-foot Hollywood Hills home for $13.7 million before selling it for $14 million in late 2021. During her marriage, Grande purchased two luxury properties — an $8.9 million townhouse in the Byrd Streets neighborhood. in the Hollywood Hills of Los Angeles and a two-bedroom Hollywood Hills home worth $4.9 million that was previously owned by actress Cameron Diaz.
It’s not certain how this property will be divided during the divorce settlement, but the former lovebirds are determined to make the process amicable and drama-free.
Grande and Gomez mutually chose to separate
News of the couple’s split broke in July. According to a source close to the duo, Grande and Gomez have been facing serious problems since the beginning of the year and have been unable to overcome them.
“They came to the decision together,” an insider said of the pair’s split. “They were having problems before January, but they want to remain best friends.”
The source explained that the duo’s separation was not without reconciliation efforts. The Florida native, who was in the UK to film her role as Glinda in the upcoming “Wicked,” received her husband in London as part of reconciliation efforts. However, it all proved to be in vain.
However, Grande and Gomez are doing well individually with the support of their family and friends. “They were really good friends throughout the whole process, and their friends and family were trying to protect them,” the insider revealed to Page Six.

Another source told the Daily Mail: “Ariana and Dalton have nothing but respect for each other. They are still friends and want to stay that way moving forward. There was no infidelity or resentment between them, the marriage simply didn’t work out. These things happen.”
A day before their split was revealed, the Nickelodeon star attended the men’s Wimbledon final without her wedding ring. Months before their split, Grande celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Instagram in a tribute that has since been deleted.
