All-new designs have been revealed for Disney Homes’ First Storyliving
Pre-sale appointments are now open for the new community
Storyliving by Disney is sharing some renderings of the first homes being built in the Cotino community in Rancho Mirage, California, as part of a community pre-sale launching today. Interested homebuyers can learn more about how to become a resident of the Cotino community, including details about home designs, floor plans and elevations as well as details on how to schedule a pre-sale appointment on the Story of Cotino website.
The first-ever Storyliving by Disney community is underway, where the magic of Walt Disney Imagineering and a talented team of industry experts, including DMB Development, will bring Disney’s legacy of placemaking and attention to detail to life like never before. Set against the stunning San Jacinto Mountains, the beauty of the Coachella Valley has ignited the imagination of many over the years, including Walt Disney himself.
Disney Connections: Walt and the Coachella Valley
The design of the Cotino community is inspired by everything Walt and Lillian Disney loved about the Coachella Valley – stunning scenery, rich history, friendly neighbors and lively spirit.
“It seems fitting that Cotino, Disney’s first Storyliving community, would have a setting similar to the one Walt loved so much,” said Becky Cline, director of the Walt Disney Archives. “Walt enjoyed the Palm Springs area as a creative and rejuvenating escape, and we hope it will inspire future homeowners and guests just as it did him.”
Only in Cotino: Home Designs
The first homes will be built by award-winning Shea Homes with floor plans designed for this community. From spacious kitchens with pantry cabinets to large dining rooms perfect for family gatherings, homes at Cutino’s will offer future residents the flexibility to choose the option that suits them best. Open floor plans seamlessly connect the interior space to outdoor courtyards, wrap-around patios and covered porches designed to truly immerse residents in the area’s natural beauty.
The homes fall into four distinct design collections – the Cotino Coachella Collection, the Cotino Agrarian Collection, the Cotino Oasis Collection, and the Cotino Aspiron Collection – that represent the rich history and landscape of the Palm Springs area. Walt Disney Imagineering provided architectural and aesthetic inspiration for each design set including guidance on color palettes, exterior elements, and landscaping.
The initial sales launch in early 2024 will include very limited stock from Shea Homes. Additional home sites and builders will be introduced in phases through a thoughtful development approach as the community expands. In the future, there are plans for more than 1,900 housing units.

Homebuyers interested in living in the Cotino community can begin the process by visiting the Story of Cotino website to learn more about the homes available in the initial release, including floor plans, elevations and projected prices, and request a pre-sale appointment. Pre-sale appointments will be with Disney Sales Guides who will bring Disney’s standards of customer service excellence to your home buying journey. Pre-sale appointment requests can be made virtually or in person at the Cotino sales studio by visiting the Story of Cotino website. Appointments are available now through January 9, 2024 (subject to availability), prior to the start of home sales in early 2024. The on-site Cotino Sales Studio is open for in-person meetings by appointment only.
Home prices are set by home builders. Purchase agreements will be between the buyer and the home builders.
