This modern stone palace in

Bedford, New York, located about an hour north of Manhattan, has a gorgeous outdoor pool area and a library with a secret door.

The property is part of the Penwood community, where singer Mariah Carey rented a house with a 90-foot violin-shaped pool during the pandemic. The gated enclave contains large homes on manicured common grounds in a Westchester County town known for its horse farms and sprawling country estates.

The property, designed by architect Tassos Kokouris, who focuses primarily on custom residential and equestrian properties, was custom-built in 1999 to emulate an English mansion, with stone facades and garden-like walled grounds. It was completely renovated by its owners last year, with a custom-designed kitchen, butler’s pantry, and new bathrooms that give it a “new feel,” according to the agent.
